Having spent much time in Granada in southern Spain and as a very keen freestyle dancer myself I decided here to capture the spirit of flamenco with the paint. This Spanish traditional style is awash with drama and movement which I have captured with broad confident strokes and a blurring effect to highlight the frenetic movement of my subject
The portrayal of the human form is one of the more traditional activities for the artist. Having run several ‘Life drawing’ groups throughout my career and being heavily influenced by looking at the portraiture of my great grandfather whilst growing up I often return to the human form for inspiration for my paintings.
